Blatter at it again
I didn’t really wanna talk about Eduardo. I mean, sure, poor him I wish him well and a speedy recovery, it was very unfortunate, but it did happen to players not just in England, once awhile – you may have remembered me talking about Niels Kokmeijer. Brings us memories of David Busst too – if there’s one thing to make the Red Dane puke, that was it.
But, once again, Sepp Blatter does everything he can to undermine English football. To remove all the mincing in his words, he wants Martin Taylor (an Englishman) banned for life for the tackle.
The first thing that came to my mind was that, of all the dangerous tackles that have happened in the history of football, why now, why that incident?
Let me tell you about Taylor’s tackle – it’s a common tackle made by defenders, to push the ball out of the attacker’s possession from the side. Now, Taylor’s tackle was late because of Eduardo’s speed. The proximity of both players meant that it could not be stopped – and you’d think the spate of red cards recently was for two-footed tackles that came from quite a distance. This one was one-footed at close range, so you could imagine the damage done by the tackle that was once part and parcel of the rough English football but now considered violent conduct.
But to punish the tackle with a lifetime ban? You tell me, that taking drugs (or missing drugs tests wtf), or making a sort of assault like Ben Thatcher to Pedro Mendes warrants a shorter ban length?
Does he think Taylor’s tackle was a pre-meditated action? If he does, he might as well ban every defender in this world. Or make tackles illegal altogether. I don’t know.
Sepp Blatter has never liked English football, if you ask me. He’ll do everything he can to not have England host the World Cup, as long as he lives. True, it could be England’s fault with their overhyped league and ridiculous plans (read: 39th game), but to me it has gone too far.
